Grecian Judaism and the Development of the Old Testament
The impact of Greek culture upon the religious and ethnic traditions of the East and the advent of new mixed cultures apart from their historical and genealogical status and attraction, possesses double importance as being the origin of the subsequent developments. Take for instance the case of ancient Hebrew culture and Jwish religion that in confrontation with Greek culture underwent certain changes and these changes exercised their effect, on the one hand, on normative and intellectual structures of that community, and on the other hand, on the content of their Scripture (i.e. Torah). This article is an attempt to explore a part of the backgrounds of such interaction with reference to certain examples from the perspective of historical development.
