The research issue before us is the near-death experience, which in the present era has gained a significant position among theologists, religious philosophers, and has led to a contentious conflict between two approaches: naturalistic and supernatural. The promoters of scientific atheism are determined to deny the occurrence of such experiences, and if they fail in this regard, they consider them causal, pathological, and delusional, relying on natural explanations. Given the importance of this issue in dealing with some religious beliefs, the research ahead aims to discuss and examine the aforementioned perspective within the scope of psychological explanations.
The research method ahead will be a documentary and library method in terms of collection, and a rational-analytical method in terms of judgment.
The research findings finally indicate that the physicalist and naturalistic position has not been successful in explaining near-death experiences and suffers from numerous disadvantages. Among these disadvantages are the lack of reliance on valid scientific findings, the lack of evidence of naturalism, and the occurrence of various shortcomings, inaccuracies, and fallacies. |
